Jeffrey W. Henke, MD, FACS, FASMBS
Dr. Henke is Board Certified Surgeon, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery. He grew up in Northeast Ohio and attended the University of Toledo for undergraduate studies graduating Magna Cum Laude within the Honors Program. During this time, he spent a year in Manchester, England studying biochemistry and global medicine.
Dr. Henke then attended The Ohio State University College of Medicine earning his MD in 2007. He elected to pursue a career in surgery and moved to Phoenix, Arizona. He went on to complete his residency at the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency serving as Chief Resident his final year. The program is a unique training institution as a collaboration between Banner Health System, a primary teaching hospital of The University of Arizona College of Medicine, and the Veterans Administration medical facilities. The high surgical volume training focused on advanced laparoscopic, robotic, endocrine, and bariatric surgery while also emphasizing research. Additionally, Dr. Henke was able to experience a more rural surgery experience while working at Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.
After completing residency, Dr. Henke joined WLS Surgical Associates in 2012. Working alongside Dr. Joseph Kuhn, one of the foremost pioneers of weight loss and cancer surgery in Dallas, Dr. Henke has developed into a leading surgeon in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. He became the owner of WLS Surgical Associates in 2015. It is his focus to provide individualized, compassionate care to each patient in the practice.
Dr. Henke met his wife, Becky, while in medical school. She is a special education teacher and stay at home mom. Together they have 3 young children as well as a faithful Golden Retriever. Dr. Henke enjoys spending his free time with his family as well as soccer, running, and following his favorite Ohio sports teams
